Natural cure for dry winter hands

Get rid of dry winter hands naturally! Ah, the joys of winter are back again and along with that comes the dry, cold air that can wreak havoc on your epidermis, also known as your skin. Everywhere you go, people seem to be itching and scratching all different areas of their body. Many buy hand cream after hand cream to deeply hydrate their hands so they will have oh so soft hands.

Here are several tips for all the ones that just can’t seem to get their hands hydrated enough.

Healthy Tip 1: Exfoliate! You can’t hydrate dead skin! Plain and simple. That dry, scratchy, flakey skin is dead skin and this doesn’t need a lotion rescue. Yes, it absolutely needs moisturization, but you must first remove the dead skin to moisturize and hydrate your skin properly. Removing the dead skin also promotes new skin growth and will make your skin look more youthful with accelerated cell turnover. This will make your hands and skin feel soft again, even in the dry winter climates. We recommend any of our body scrubs for this. Your hands and skin will be thankful for this!

Healthy Tip 2: Shower and wash your hands with healthy, toxin-free soap. What is healthy soap? Healthy soap is made from organic saponified botanical oils that will cleanse your skin without stripping it. Our hand cleansers and body cleansers provide moisturization while gently cleansing your beautiful skin. Stay away from synthetic, sulfate, and detergent (surface-active agent) based soaps and cleansers. Most of these do not provide any skin healing properties, but are designed to strip everything from your skin. This puts your epidermis in a state of daily shock every time you use these products. Harsh cleansers irritate the skin by stripping away the protective acid mantle. The acid mantle is the skin’s first layer of protection from the elements.

Healthy Tip #3: Moisturize! We offer excellent healthy hand and body moisturizers. All of our products are made with organic ingredients and are formulated for their healing properties. Our body lotions work great for total body moisturization. Slather our body butters on after showering for extra deep and protective hydration. You’ll feel the difference when using healing botanical oils on your skin. For on the go, we recommend our lotion sticks. They glide right on and will hydrate the skin with no mess, no fuss.

Healthy Tip 4: Drink plenty of water. We’ve all heard this, but it’s true! Staying hydrated can help your skin look and feel more youthful. According to H.H. Mitchell (Journal of Biological Chemistry 158) the brain and heart are composed of 73% water, and the lungs are about 83% water. The skin contains 64% water, muscles and kidneys are 79%, and even the bones are watery: 31%. Water serves a number of essential functions to keep us all going. Water is a vital nutrient to the life of every cell and acts as a critical building material. It regulates our internal body temperature through sweating and respiration. The carbohydrates and proteins that our bodies use as food are metabolized and transported by water in the bloodstream. It assists in flushing waste mainly through urination. Water acts as a shock absorber for our brain and spinal cord. Water forms saliva and lubricates our joints.

Healthy Tip 5: Organic raw honey and manuka honey are your friends! The FDA authorized the first honey-based medical product for use in the U.S. Derma Sciences uses manuka honey for their Medihoney wound and burn dressings. Manuka honey is made with pollen gathered from the flowers of the manuka bush (a medicinal plant), and clinical trials have found this type of honey can effectively eradicate more than 250 clinical strains of bacteria, including drug resistant varieties such as: MRSA (methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus), MSSA (methicillin sensitive Staphylococcus aureus), and VRE (vancomycin-resistant enterococci).

Raw organic honey is bursting with beneficial enzymes and antimicrobial properties. No one has been able to discover the unique substance involved that gives raw honey it’s extraordinary antibacterial activity. Raw honey releases hydrogen peroxide through an enzymatic process, which explains its general antiseptic qualities. Raw honey is well know to be an emollient. You can place onto your hands and let the healing begin. We recommend you to try this at night for one week and watch the difference in the appearance and feel of your hands.

We hope you’ve enjoyed another healthy moment from face naturals.
